The Intensive French Program
This is the fourth year that the Intensive French program is at Hebbville Academy. The program first began in Newfoundland approximately 10 years ago. Since then it has been an implemented program all across Canada! Nova Scotia currently has 13 IF programs, 4 of which are here in the South Shore Regional School Board. The Intensive French year is laid out as follows:
September to January:
• Intensive French semester
• 80% Intensive French Language instruction
• 20% instruction in English (Mathematics will always be taught in English)
February to June:
• Compacted curriculum semester with instruction in English (English, Science, Social Studies, Health and Math continues)
• 10% of French instruction
***Throughout the entire year courses such as Music, Family Studies, Technology and Gym are taught in English.
